Incase you'd like to know more about Kola, here is a glimpse of his journey so far. ↓
2011:
The creative beginnings
This was a pivotal year for Kola, fresh out of high school with a head full of ideas. Born with the unique talent of drawing and painting effortlessly with his left hand, Kola was naturally drawn to the world of design. His passion for creating meaningful solutions through design led him to pursue a degree in graphic design. University was more than just about learning; it was also about connecting with fellow gifted designers that deepened his understanding of the design landscape. After 4 transformative years, Kola was ready to make his mark in the design world.
2016:
Startup dreams
Fresh out of University and overflowing with ambition, Kola teamed up with his best friend and fellow dreamer, to chart a path of their own. Opting out of the traditional job route, they set up shop right in Kola’s apartment, calling their budding enterprise 'Oddball'. With just a couple of laptops, a trusty printer, and a hefty dose of resolve, they were set to turn the design world on its head.
2017:
Corporate shift
Just 1 year after launching Oddball, Kola’s design journey took an exciting twist. His work with local businesses had caught the eye of Kaduna Solutions, a prominent e-commerce company. Kola embraced the opportunity and joined their team. There, he juggled multiple design projects, working seamlessly with the marketing team to ensure that every piece of content reflected the brand's personality across all media. This role marked a significant milestone in Kola’s career, showcasing his ability to lead and innovate within a corporate setting.
2019:
Shaping futures
By this time, Kola’s reputation as an outstanding designer was solidifying. His impactful work had not gone unnoticed, and it wasn't long before he was approached by the government to participate in an ambitious program. This initiative was designed to equip individuals lacking technical skills with the knowledge to use design tools, aiming to create agents of digital transformation across various economic sectors. Throughout the program, he crafted detailed lesson plans and delivered engaging lectures on graphic design.
2020:
Broadening horizons
2020 brought a well-deserved pause for Kola, who returned to his home-town to recharge after wrapping up the program. During this period, he also expanded his skill set by earning a UX design certification from Google. Unknown to him, his design feats were making waves within the business community. This recognition set the stage for his next career move. Eager to put his UX skills to use, he joined a retail company aiming to transition their customer base from physical stores to their online platform. While there, he worked alongside product managers, developers, and marketers, playing a pivotal role in crafting user-centric solutions that significantly enhanced the customer experience on their e-commerce platform.
2021:
Bridging design and technology
This year marked a year of deepening interests and expanding horizons for Kola. His collaborative experiences at his previous job reignited his passion for diving deeper into the intersections of technology and design. Driven by a thirst for more knowledge, Kola enrolled in a master's program in Information Technology at the University of the West of England. Here, he gained invaluable insights into information security, software development, and project management. Among his standout experiences was leading a five-member team to design and develop a meal planning app, and conducting a three-month research project on how modifications to Electronic Health Records could enhance usability and help reduce physician burnout. Kola’s dedication and hard work paid off brilliantly, culminating in his graduation with a Distinction.
2023:
Shaping public services
Fresh from his master's triumph, Kola’s career took a significant leap. He was quickly snapped up by a forward-thinking not-for-profit organisation created through a partnership between 4 councils. This marked his transition from UX design to the broader field of Service Design. Here, he crafted detailed service blueprints, user journey maps, and touchpoint analyses, skilfully visualising the complex ecosystems of the councils. His work illuminated opportunities for innovation, helping the councils to deliver outstanding services to residents.
2024:
From inspiration to creation
This was a year of new beginnings and bold moves for Kola. Having recently graduated and relocating to a new country, he was keen to make connections and immerse himself in the design and tech scene. Eager to meet like-minded professionals, he attended multiple industry events, and was even invited to speak at one. It was at one of these gatherings that he was inspired by a renowned figure in the design world. Motivated by her talk and armed with a vast wealth of knowledge and skills from his experiences across the dynamic landscape of design, he decided to launch his own venture. Thus, Veilworx was born.
